A friend of mine said he quit watching the Komi-san anime on Brazilian Netflix because he couldn't withstand the usage of gender neutral language. :dead_inside: Now mind you that every word in Portuguese has a gender (either male or female article associated with it), and using "gender neutral" language literally means making words up. So it isn't like switching words like "people" instead of "men".Example:amigo = male friendamiga = female friendThey use "amigue" to mean "gender neutral friend".I have tried convincing him to find a fan sub of it, but he knows only very basic English so it doesn't help.

(Photos are not mine :megu_scare: )The second picture has the aforementioned "amigue" bullshit. The first one has "molhade" which is intended as being the gender neutral version for wet. Same as the other example "molhado" is when referring to the masculine variation of wet and "molhada" is the feminine one. The word "molhade" literally does not exist.:hinata_acid: :hinata_acid: :hinata_acid: :hinata_acid:

@namedoesntfi not to mention the male article is also the "gender neutral" one.Latin used to have 3 genders in their words, a masculine one, a feminine and a neutral form. With time, and specially when Latin evolved into Portuguese, Spanish and Italian, the masculine and gender neutral forms were fused into one, and those languages ended with just two gendered forms: masculine/neutral and feminine. So, contrary to what libtards say, creating new words to create a "gender neutral" form in Portuguese is not "evolving the language", it's exactly the opposite.

@Kyonko802 For 15 years? I thought it was something along the lines of 10 years or less. :zt_think: Oh, but this is just one example of more absurd bullshit. Slightly changing words to be "politically correct" has been happening for about 10 years (give or take).First time I noticed was when they started using "presidenta" to refer to female president, when the word "presidente" is one of the many words that does not vary between male and female forms. It already pissed me off then.

@Kyonko802 @namedoesntfi One talking point I absolutely hate is "languages change all the time bro, just deal with it", because 1) in this case all the changes are for the worse and read like shit, 2) they make no sense from a linguistic perspective and 3) they're being pushed by worthless traitors who want to destroy all worthwhile civilizations.

@Mogami @Kyonko802 @namedoesntfi Not really seeing the simplification in the offenses listed by namedoesntfi, nor does deciding to refer to individuals of uncertain sex as if they're multiple people do anything but confuse things.None of these SJW language change are made with the affected language in mind, it's all about forcefully making language "inclusive" to the point of losing meaning, or making it explicitly political.

@Suzu @namedoesntfi eh kinda imprecise, gramatically latin does have 3 genders, masculine, femenine and neutral, but in actual words and decantations the infinitive form of a word was the neutral, the masculine was used for imperative and the femenine for the possesive, however somewhere along the middle ages vulgar latin speakers took to using the masculine from of a word for the neutral too which is why they had to add articles to grammar in order to differentiate between the neutral and the imperative, for example the now classic “Deus Vult” from educated latin would be “Deus lo vulto” in vulgar latin and “God Wills it” in english with the spanish transliteration “Dios lo Oderna” which in turn adapted more properly “es la Voluntad de Dios”.Notice however the proper spanish makes God’s will to be femenine as the word for will in spanish cannot be imperative ie you cannot order someone to have will but instead is something you must posses.Cannot comment on portuguese as i don’t really speak it and the times i had to speak portuguese with someone else i was filling in what i didn’t knew with spanish and what little italian i can speak.

@EdBoatConnoisseur @namedoesntfi Portuguese does the same thing. Every substantive is gendered, and some substantives are masculine (o ódio, or "the hate") and some are feminine (a vontade, or "the will").What I was talking about were the "flexible" nouns, like "friend" (which is the word being used in this example).Latin used to have 3 genders for "friend". "Amicus" as masculine, "amica" as feminine and "amicum" as neutral. Somewhere, somehow, "amicum" fell into disuse, and "amicus" was used both for masculine and for neutral. In Portuguese, it turned into "amigo" (masculine/neutral) and "amiga" (feminine). The neutral part is more easily seen used in the context of plurals. When you say "meus amigos" (my friends) it is considered that you are talking about all your friends, men and women. If you say "minhas amigas", you're talking only about your female friends. To talk about only your male friends, people usually say "meus amigos homens" (which translates literally to "my male friends").So, in creating stupid shit like "amigue" for a gender neutral version of the word, you're basically recreating the old "amicum", which is akin to regressing the language.
