I mean the Twitter influence UX for the fediverse social platforms definitely influences it for the same reason twitter sucks, its just an unfiltered feed of whatever garbage, funny/horny/angering/etc. But even on like Matrix and stuff this issues stay, so I think its largely an issue of it being hard to get like good friends to use these alt-tech things, so the alternative is lots of impersonal connections with whatever random strangers are using these platforms, even on more chat centric things like Matrix/XMPP. Meanwhile very similar formats on worse but more used apps(like whatsapp which is literally centralized tweaked XMPP) tend to be more of those personal interactions because its people you know. Your not gonna be having personal discussions with some random bum online immediately, so the goto is shitposting or whatever.Quite frankly I don't see it getting very good for personal connections unless normal people start using this kind of stuff, which is unlikely to happen.I'm not sure what the solution to that would be but its a shame. Entertaining to use but not meaningful in the slightest.
