       Dear asshole "self defense technique" video guy on YouTube:Teaching people that grabbing the slide of a striker fired pistol and that it will stop the pistol from firing is retarded. The slide moves after the shot is fired. If the gun is cocked before it is pressed against your chest (hint: it is) then grabbing the slide is going to cause the guy with the gun to instinctively pull the trigger and shoot your sorry, ignorant ass.If someone is in a dominant position with a pistol pressed against your chest give them what they want in that moment and wait for your chance.

       @MisterRogersSnapped I personally want to see what happens when the person fires when you grab the slide. I mean it's gonna cycle right? I saw that marine dude who grabbed that dudes gun in the gas station recently, he grabbed the slide too.

       @D00B If you can hold it tight enough it will cause a failure to eject or failure to feed of the second shot. Even pressure on the front of an auto loading pistol against a body can cause a failure to feed when the barrel is free floating and not connected to the frame as it is in most modern auto loading pistols. Of course this is the second shot, the first shot would already be in the chamber and the only movement of parts for the first shot would be internal to the pistol if it is striker fired.Because of this you can find some self defense pistol frames and add-ons that hold the pistol away from something you are pressing it against so that inan up close struggle the pistol is more likely to load the second shot.The person who made the video fully believes that the slide must cycle before the first shot is fired which is incorrect. I am sure there are designs which will load and fire the first shot with a trigger pull in order to better emulate a double action revolver but that is not how most modern auto loading pistols work.There are some cheaper blowback operated auto loading designs with the barrel attached to the frame in which some of these failures would be less likely to happen but they are usually garbage and would still fire the first shot without any movement of the slide.In a pistol with an external hammer instead of an internal striker you would be more likely to stop the first shot if you could stop the hammer but you would have to be able to move with inhuman speed.
