@thor Not sure, if you apply for a job you use a real name, so that employer needs to make sure that the paper you wrote was written by you, hiding behind a pen name may cause some issues.

@thor hmm it should not. This is the issue people are judgemental based on age, race, gender etc. Should not happen and people should not need to change to be accepted. it is others who need to change the attitude. You have already suggested you are from Norway, so that explains name being Thor, which IIRC is the Norse god of war. Maybe we can sort of paraphrase Martin Luther king, judge me by the quality of my writing.

@amerika @zleap the spelling “Thor” instead of “Tor” is already a bit unusual. we dropped the “th” sound from the modern Scandinavian languages, so it’s often dropped in writing as well.there are, according to the Statistics Bureau of Norway, “less than 4 or no people named” my full name (i’m likely the only person in the country having this full name). about 7k people have my first name.

Plus dangerously unhinged totalitarianismThe old death metal band Comecon referred to WW2 as a "Teutonic tantrum" and this seems, to me, mostly right.Really far-Right would be Evola, Plato, Schopenhauer, in my view, in that they are close to being full realists and have the least amount of humanism.

@vulgate so i realised, okay, you have to separate. i love my cat and i take care of him. i find him to be a challenge at times; he’s demanding of attention. his fur is high maintenance. it’s not what i had expected. but he’s my responsibility. i’m a bit burdened by him, but he didn’t have a say here. i got him as a kitten. and i like cats. but i think the breeder disapproves of anyone who isn’t heavily into the breed. my reason for getting him wasn’t because he’s a ragdoll though. so i don’t have her approval. i was very spooked out by this, so i began concealing more. i hadn’t had a problem with sharing my full name online before that.

@vulgate or let me add some nuance: i got him because of the fact that ragdolls don’t mind being indoor cats. they’re not too curious about the outdoors. i live in an apartment but i want a cat. i guess i need a cat, really. i’m alone a lot but i need some company.

@vulgate the sense i got, visiting the home of the breeder and her husband and how they carried themselves, is that being a cat fancier, and a fancier of ragdolls, is this type of person you are. there’s a community around it. they groom their cats and take them to shows, and there’s this whole thing surrounding it.

@vulgate to be honest with you, they struck me as a bit weird/creepy.

@vulgate and i guess i felt a bit creeped out that this woman would go and google me and read my stuff. stalk me like that. maybe she wants her cats to have a good home. but the whole experience served as a stark reminder to me that people do look you up on the Internet these days.

@vulgate you try to be a good person yet they will find fault in you and dislike you, yet will not question their ability to judge. yet somehow, even though i know they reached a snap judgement, it will hurt me.
