Random thoughts about having your vote be a secret. Yes, it is good to have this information private, as there is less of a chance of intimidation and coercion to vote a certain way. There is a downside: not being able to trust that the results are 100 percent legitimate. That is, you cannot verify that everyone's votes were counted 100 percent accurately or that there was no fudging of numbers in some way.Not saying we should make votes public, but there is a downside.

@houseoftolstoy Hard to have all upside w/ no downside.A notion I saw the other day and liked would be a requirement for the silo-ing of the vote counting at the county level. All counts must be completed independently and blindly, and once all are done they get submitted simultaneously. Would seem to be helpful to combat monkeying w/ tallies in close elections but require a high level of trust for each node - but this would prohibit coordinated high level action. What do you think?

@wunderbear Having a lack of live updates might upset people, but I would not hate this change. Would not guarantee that this would be circumvented by some operatived secretly communicating results and looking to cheat.

@houseoftolstoy Agreed, as much as I don't like the live-updating (which the press can use to sway impressions but provides some monitoring) making it a "black box" has problems....Maybe if there were a way to report on the numbers - but have quadruple-blindness as to who the candidates are. A few hand-offs between teams with some data masking, so the live-count is there but it's "Candidate A" and "Candidate B" - after it's all done it's revealed who is whoNo way we would get that though 😂
