@Debradelai Last November, the results were so back-loaded with Democratic votes (because of massive covid-induced early voting) that U.S. Sen. Mark Warner won by 12 points, but didn't pull ahead until around 11 pm.The late, sudden shift was caused by the fact that most localities waiting until the end of the night to report central absentee precincts. Last Nov, these precincts bulged with 60% of all votes cast. Since Democrats are more likely to vote early, a massive blue wave hit late.
