the new normal is: attending a conference in person, but following the online stream to screenshot the slides

@entreprecariat i live-coded for a conference held in berlin summer 2020 which normally cost a pretty penny but being a participant, got access to their online conference platform for free 👍 but also as i'm in california and everything was sync in berlin so i pretty much missed everything sync and only could catch the youtube archival vids which were available to even non-paying people anyways (which i mean, i'm down for) but it kinda makes me wonder what (online) conference will look like and what their funding models will be and i mean, things going online = accessibility bc i'm in not-big-city california and traveling and housing is a thing so i hope things stay online (but also hope i get out of here) but there's also something irreplaceable about physical experience (and conferences) too

@entreprecariat it's the conference version of going to a football stadium and listening to the match in the radio at the same time.Jokes aside, that makes me think of how presentation tools could be augmented by smartphones. For example, one could provide a more verbose version of the slides, or supplementary information that is tangential to the talk itself, like extra images and links.
