I hated hearing Biden stress how important it was for mother's/father's to be able to go back to work after birth (so lowering child care costs or something) when the real problem is that most families can't live comfortably on one income now. I truly believe if we put more emphasis on families we would see more creative, confident and independent thinking young people...

@ohiotruthseeker86 my wife stays home with our toddlers. Her pre-children income would have only netted us about $10k/year once childcare for two was extracted, and we think raising our kids ourselves is worth far more than that.It also gives me the peace of mind I need to work 20-40 hrs of overtime each week and more than make up for her missing earnings.

@NoSir that's what my family does! It's so worth it. My husband can make more doing side work fixing cars than my teacher salary 🤷 and I love the quality time with them.

@NoSir @ohiotruthseeker86 this is roughly the same scenario we're in, just with smaller children. Lord knows my heart starts feeling heavy the first minute of overtime until I see squiggle's eyes light up when I walk in the door. Good on you and the family. The homeschool revolution, and the recentering on family are the brightest stars in an otherwise bleak sky.

@NoSir @ohiotruthseeker86 Yep it was a no brained for our family too. I would have made about $150 a week after paying for childcare. Driving less and cooking from home instead of picking food up helped the budget even further.

@KellyS @ohiotruthseeker86 I'm taking the next step: I bought the plot next to my in-lawsand I'm breaking ground on a new house. Next year we'll take turns eating at one another's homes, the kids can see/help/learn from their grandparents daily, certain purchases can be shared, and on and on.

@NoSir @ohiotruthseeker86 My spouse doesn’t want to live that close to his parents, I would be ok with it though, I think his folks are awesome. Spouse says “a few hours drive is close enough “.Right now we’re in California and they are a 12 hour flight away in the UK.

@ohiotruthseeker86 That is exactly the opposite of what the government wants. My wife and I will be homeschooling. Working hard, saving and living under your means goes a long way.... but that makes it basically impossible for a party to buy my vote by offering me money stolen from fellow citizens.
