@dan I'm happy to connect to any existing relays. Most of the ones had saved in a document are now dead, so...If someone else wants to run a relay, I'm happy to point the server at it.

@b10m @ServerStatus I'm really not sure how this whole relay things works (is this relay server ONLY relaying NAS?) I added it as part of the Relay section in Admin... Hopefully it works. It says it's enabled but I haven't seen any new posts that I don't already follow... will keep an eye on it. Thanks for your help and your courage ;-)

@b10m Now, despite having run NAS for just over four years now, I'm not as fluent in Activitypub as I ought to be.My understanding is that the relay just enables federation between servers, sharing all (public) posts to other servers sharing the relay, thus not requiring users to follow another server in order to manually "discover" other servers.Once a user on one server follows a user on another, does federation not work automagically? What real benefit does the relay provide?

@eriner afaik it drags in all public statuses, so also the ones not followed yet. This makes discovering new users on a remote instance easier
