@ern I do can :blobcathearts: But support is very much appreciated :ablobwink: And only optional I did start the community with a small server but it has grown very much in the past 2 years, that also expands the monthly costs :blobcathearts:

@stux ok thanks for the heads up. Always makes me worry when people start instances / online stuff that people join. Then constantly ask for money. I kind of sit here going “you started the thing and let people join for free, sooooo” but I get what you mean my friend. This size of server on Mastodon is £80 a month it’s a lot of money. I keep pointing people on twitter / Instagram etc towards this instance. Hopefully they’ll contribute.

@ern No worries :blobcathearts: That's true indeed! But don't forget that this is FOSS and that without the donations of people many projects would be stuck and many instances wouldn't be around that long :blobcatgiggle:I think that's the beauty of such communities, I spend quite a lot time on it but I keep my distance from earning methods like ads etc! I try it the "right way" by promoting Stuxhost that can again host instances so the fedi can keep growing! Most of those profits go directly back into Mstdn :ablobwink: (oh and btw, its more like €350+ per month :blobcatgiggle:)

@stux yep you should be making money from stuxhost you keep pushing it rightly every day, I boost it when I see it. My worry is you’re paying £350 a month for hosting mstdn.social when on mastohost you can get this for £80 a month. So your monthly cost just for this instance is 350? Or do you mean all your web hosting etc is 350?

The €89 dollar plan on MastoHost is not gonna cut it for us by a long shot :blobcatgiggle: At current capacerty we are about doing times 2.5-3 times as much :bloblaugh: And with Mastohost I have no control on the instance, only some settings :blobcatgiggle: That's not enough :catblush:

@stux well I keep offering and keep saying if you need any help I’m here. I’m sticking to this instance mate. Don’t cry I know most want to see me leave lol. €350 for a Mastodon Instance bill seems to be way too much. Especially for mstdn.social it has loads of signed up users but only last time I looked only a third of them were active. You must be able to cut the bill by culling inactive users ?
