@shebang I'm not worried about myself personally. Even though I certainly plan to continue breaking the "law" if it comes to it. For other people's sake, not for my own.I'm bi, but I'm married to a woman and otherwise close enough to het for it not to matter if I chooose it doesn't.But I think I'm past my breaking point. What has happened in the West has 100% vindicated all arguments about the slippery slope, and shown that there's no reasonable compromise to be had on this issue. Although creating sufficiently humanized mice they can go gay or trans of their own accord sounds like a bit of a challenge….There’s other types of studies that don’t need to go into “how sexual behavior is developed in the brain during pregnancy,” like the ones that find correlations between childhood sexual abuse and the victims later going gay or lesbian. There are plausible mechanisms for how this works, and more than a little ancedotal evidence for it, including a belief by a lot of the gay community that this works.

Now I do agree that therapies can applied without knowing the full picture if there observable results of the effectiveness of those therapies.

@oddtail @vae polish politics is completely bollocks, as viewed from Germany. This is the next step in, for all purposes, except legally, Poland exiting the Union. Will be quite interesting (i mean terrible) when polish citizens try to claim asylum in other European countries. Discrimination by the law + missing independent legal recourse (as found by the ECJ, thereby binding german and other courts) should be enough.

Reactionaries double down when they get nervous that they're "losing" the dominant narrative.PL society is homophobic, but it *is* noticeably moving away from that. Well - slowly.I'm worried short term, but optimistic in the long run.

If you’ve been around enough street people after the mental institutions were shut down for mostly bogus reasons at the time and their patients abandoned on the streets, you’ll have come across one who’s mind, who’s thinking process was clearly broken. Those in the catatonic spectrum would also be unambiguous.My mother was an eye witness of sorts to the introduction of first generation anti-psychotics, as a RN in training did three months of her residency in a psych ward. Later after becoming a real nurse in her specialty worked in the same hospital and was one day amazed to see one of the “hopeless” cases working as an orderly or janitor. We certainly didn’t know back then, nor to my knowledge know today, why these and their second generation versions work, we just know empirically that they do. And that’s true for a great many classes of drugs.Or take something as simple as lithium chloride for bipolar disorder. It’s hard to imagine how it could have an effect on such a profound disorder, but between it and later drugs like anti-convulsants and second generation anti-psychotics we can control these two of the worst mental illnesses, the ones that have filled insane asylums since forever. True miracle drugs.And every once in a while learn about a tragedy that came at least in part because people refused to take these nasty meds, from the mother with past-partum psychosis who drowned her children, to the “jogger” who was killed when he tried to grab the shotgun of someone who was trying to bring him to justice. In the latter case, none of his prescribed anti-psychotic in his blood, and was high on something.

@vae @oddtail AFAIK there are two ongoing fines. One .5 milion euro per day for powerplant and coal mine near the Czech border. 1 milion euro for ignoring the sentence about illegality of judicial reforms. W would assume that if this passed then this would result in another fine.
