If a group of people can raise a small log barn in a few days, I can probably build a cabin in less than a year. I can comfortably get by living in a large tent for the warmer half of a year. I literally just need land.

@s_purdo I've watched so many cabin-building videos at this point. I even know what kinds of chinking and daubing I want to employ and what I can do to better insulate it for harsher winters. I just need the land.

@WoodshopHandmanuntil the bureaucrats get you>you can't use this wood for structural purposes because it hasn't been inspected and stamped>you can't use logs for this purpose cause they don't have an official fire rating from the manufacturer>your bedroom is 3 square feet too small you can't do that>you didn't use tamper resistant outlets and AFCI breakers in all the required places

@skylar The plan is to build it so remotely that they'd have to drive miles on a dirt road (that I purposely make less hospitable to cars) through the woods to reach the cabin to even know it exists and if they try to heckle me about it I either shoot them or put them in a pit until they are willing to push my millstone around for me.

@skylar @WoodshopHandman It costs some money but if you buy in a rural enough area you can incorporate the area around you as your own town and just make your own codes and regulations. And really most rural counties are so under funded and understaffed you aren't gonna get any kind of visit from an inspector saying your log cabin is illegal. Also consequently such rural areas have very few people around to hear loud noises.

@WoodshopHandman people will find your dirt road and drive their 4x4s and ATVs down it for fun, to eat the wildlife, cause they're teens and they need a quiet spot to get drunk in the woods, etc.if you could source some reclaimed materials so it looks like it's been there since 1924, and it was built to the period's style, maybe!

@skylar Yeah, it would be a shame if someone tied cord around the trees on that road at shin (or neck) height, maybe littered some sections of it with screws or other sharp objects capable of puncturing tires.

@s_purdo @parker @WoodshopHandman @nobullyplz From what I've seen of denied religious exemptions it has been because the religious organization as a whole doesn't oppose the vaccine, if you're any between and including Catholic and Christian Scientist your church hierarchy has already screwed you with their public statements, which is where a purpose-built sect could be more useful (as long as you never admit to it publicly and have a firm prohibition).
