@colonelj @nonetrix Plug it. Go to the folders you want to save, export data from every app that you deem important, etc. And copy all of that to your external disk folder. Turn the computer off, unplug the external disk, done, everything is there, in your backup external disk. in case you don't know how to make windows and linux coexist, it's ok, you can erase your disk safely, because all of your important data is in your external disk.

@colonelj @nonetrix Maybe in your case it's best to dedicate a separate machine to Linux.Sometimes learning costs time and money. Once you're comfortable with operating systems and stuff you'll find yourself doing all sorts of advanced stuff.
