@vriska @thor there are plenty of problems here but when you say "2/3 of the country" i think you need to clarify whether you mean 2/3 of the population lives in shithole cities (very true), or 2/3 of the geographic areas are shitholes (not true). take a plane trip across the country and you'll see it's mostly farms and suburbs, desert and mountains. they're doing fine.

Austin is the preferred city for them because the culture is reminiscent of California's. Here in the US the right wing ideals are 'small government, low taxes, few regulations as possible, free enterprise under Laissez-faire capitalism'. @thor @MikeCarbine @meowski @vriska it's worse.if you have a department that doesn't spend all its money 1 year, next years budget is likely to be decreased by as much as the leftovers.This leads to absurd expenditures in the name of keeping the budget, not because the department needs the money *now* but rather because it may be necessary in the future.This is worsened by the process of getting a budget for maintenance work and such that may only happen once every 5-10 years being an absolute dick. Getting that approved may very well take 2-3 years at which point it could be too late.(I can't say this is true everywhere of course, but I know it happens)
