@dave, @mitch and I were walking through the integration with podverse and my copy of the parser. Is there a need for multiple value blocks to support different crypto? like eth and BTC? or is the expectation to do whatever bridging @brianoflondon is doing for hive?

@RyanHirsch @mitch @brianoflondon Eventually there would be a need I'm sure. Atm, there's just nothing out there other than spec level stuff. Nothing that works in real life except for HBD, which Brian supplanted with his gateway.

@dave @RyanHirsch @mitch off the bat I'd say ETH is impossible and BTC ridiculously unlikely because of settlement times and fees. Lightning fixes BTC and nothing will make ETH a solid choice for this.Hive works because it is zero fee. Lightning is very low fee.I do think we should update the spec now to allow multiple value blocks, however, and Podcast Index should return these in the API.

@brianoflondon @dave @RyanHirsch I sent an intro to Podcasting 2.0 to the Nano Foundation a couple months ago, and they were interested enough to make a PR for adding Nano to V4V documentation.Nano is fast and fee-less, and has one of the largest and most active crypto communities. If they're willing to write code that integrates with Podcasting 2.0 I figure the more the merrier.https://github.com/Podcastindex-org/podcast-namespace/pull/303

@mitch @brianoflondon @RyanHirsch Yep, I have that on my to-do list to review/merge. I’ve heard of Nano but that’s it. The more the merrier for sure.

@dave @mitch @brianoflondon @RyanHirsch I'd suggest to be careful with encouraging more cryptocurrencies as having a wide set of coins diminishes the benefits that a single, open, global Bitcoin network can provide to people that need it the most. To consider:- nano is currently #117 coin based on market cap. - nano has the most active twitter spammers (imho)I also held nano couple years back, but I learnt my lesson since then as I kept exploring the space and learning more nuances.

@threed from Podverse’s perspective, as a FOSS driven company, if people want to add support for other currencies, we don’t want to stop them. One of the goals of Podverse is universalness. We want to support as many features and become as interoperable with as many other apps as possible. I have a hard time imagining us taking an exclusivity stance like “Bitcoin only” in our mission, but tbh I’ve never considered the possibility before you mentioned it.

@threed the <podcast:value> tag is designed for any currency to use, so I’ve been assuming it will be used for currencies other than Bitcoin someday. For now, Podverse has spent hundreds of hours working on BTC integration (and will spend thousands more), and about 10 minutes writing an email to Nano.As long as it doesn’t distract from our priorities, I personally think the more communities and developers participating in V4V the better. Open to counter arguments though.
