@Batcastle Of course! I'm trying to find my ADD/ADHD friends on here as I'm slowly moving towards getting treatment. Do you have any treatments or strategies that you've tried in the past? DM Reply welcome if preferred

@wdavery Indeed! I have heard that a lot of the symptoms overlap. Have you previously sought out treatment for it? dm replies welcome if you prefer

@splatt9990 I would say it falls in a similar enough category, especially since a lot of the hyperactivity can present itself in mental or psychological form rather than physical

@brandon If you're open to medications, Focalin is a good alternative to Aderol. Less addictive. I took it for years as a child and had no major side affects. My mother can vouch for it's efficacy 😂 As far as strategies, there's a YouTube channel called "How to ADHD". The lady behind it REALLY GETS what having ADHD is like and provides great advice on how to handle life.

@Batcastle Definitely open to meds. The last one I had taken was Vyvanse but I didn't realize at the time that Caffeine was fucking with the efficacy in a weird way so I'll be trying that again when I see my doctor I *love* How to ADHD, she's so caring and helpful and it shows that she's doing her best to break the stigma. I feel like she's a great ambassador for the mental condition

@iridium192 Yeaah the time pressure is real. But I had a good day today. I used the pomodoro method today to study for 3 hours over the course of 5 :O It surprised me. What sorts of strategies do you try to employ to alleviate your symptoms or at the very least make them easier to deal with?

@brandon WOW nice...Yea I have an ADHD coach and she described a couple of ways to bring up interest: * Gamification - I haven't made any mechanisms here for my current role as a Dev, but I did employ them when I was working as a machine shirt presser. I would compete with myself to see if I could break 500 shirts in 4 hours.* Sparklizing - Make something re-interesting by changing it up.* Rewards - I give myself some Zelda BOTW time after 1 hour of work.

@batvin3211 I can fully appreciate that addiction. Social media, YouTube, etc, it’s basically heroin for ADHDers. I’ve had to use parental restrictions on my phone and computers just to make up for that addiction. It becomes way too easy otherwise just to fall down some rabbit hole. Do you have any strategies for dealing with ADHD symptoms other than the medication?
