@ringo @11112011 @p @stux It's about the taking away of the users right to decide who they associate with for a feigned sense of security. It looks like they're completely defedded from freespeechextremist.com for "Allows discriminatory language against marginalized groups of people." which I find funny when "marginalized people" (let's be honest with ourselves this just means non-white-non-males) use the service and find it just fine, I know plenty of users on that service and none of them spam, harass, and very few even use harsh racial language anyway. Punishment of the many for the actions of the few.Furthermore, I see as many false positives and bs reasons than I see pedo/cp/map instances, which are not blocked for some reason? Only two seem to be blocked, but I see an instance that's blocked for sharing "underage material" that I *know* does not share "underage material".Furthermore, I see that freecumextremist.com (a joke website with 10 people on it) is blocked for "Unmarked NSFW content / No moderation." when I am pretty sure just marking all content NSFW would suffice, even if this is true, which it isn't. A place with 10 people and no bad actors doesn't need moderation, and I've never seen unmarked nsfw come from that place. Yes maybe one or two slipped through, but that's no reason to defed.But you're kinda right, the people here put trust in stux to make decisions for them, they trust that stux will block "the baddies" and only allow "the good ones" to talk to them. They trust that every moderation decision is made in good faith, and they believe wholeheartedly that it is made with their best interests in mind. I think a heavy moderation policy is paternalistic and emasculating. Some people just want no part of hearing what "the other" has to say, which is fair, they can do that and I don't care anymore. Just irks me when I know it's nearly 100% political as opposed to a matter of offense or right and wrong.

@ringo @11112011 @p @stux good to hear you're fine :)Yeah, I get that his server is heavily moderated, and it's his space, my only real gripe is that the blocklist is censored so people can't see where the network is limited :( I don't know any other admin but gargon that takes money.. Censoring the name makes sense for a lot of cases though... Just not all imo... Personally the moderation policies a server has is a deciding factor for me in the instance-picking process, not many people may understand that there's a whole other network, and a completely different view of the network for every server

@ringo they were talking to me, if you're on mastodon then that's your main problem, threading and seeing who is replying to who is hard and near impossible to get right, I'm on pleroma and I see who is replying to who at the top of each message, so I'm never left wondering.Also, usually it's the first tag that is the person being replied to, not the last.

(i own hopefullyread.com) and am trying to put together something that is like delayed email but more like messaging but more like irc, but i am still designing how it should function. lol but think low tech. but highly functional.and yeah that would be so rad, thank you :)

@coyote @stux @11112011 @ringo Yeah, I think "because some people there were disrespectful, we have dropped the entire instance" is throwing the baby out with the bathwater and "and that's why free speech is bad" is a really bad opinion.(The "punk-ass bitch" remark was glib; I don't like instance blocks, but stux and I had pleasant interactions, and I don't remember any bad ones. A courtesy notice would have been nice, or soft-blocking instead of hard-blocking. But I'm hacking on a thing to solve this. One might call it the...final solution to decentralizing fedi. :nixonsmug:)
