@io would you set up a hidden service or would you just tunnel TLS over tor?

@Moon i am currently tunnelling TLS over tor. there's no good way to run a pleroma instance on clearnet and tor because the images all load over clearnet. i know someone who tried writing a reverse proxy that checks the Host header, and if it's the onion it replaces all references to the clearnet domain to the onion, but she's not very good at writing reverse proxies in python in general, and nor am i.

@Moon one possible solution is to set the media cache domain to an empty string, but this breaks a lot of clients. husky has a patch to support it but it doesn't really work.

@io interesting problem, I've written a reverse proxy to do a similar thing using apache rewrite rules but may not be the same thing.

@Moon hm, yeah i found a module for nginx that does it but i don't think it supports skipping images etc. and i couldn't figure out how to use it anyway. do you use apache?

@io this was for a previous job, we were 100% apache there. I use nginx on personal stuff. I bet the same thing could be written. maybe I'll take a look at it this weekend.

@Moon hah, i got a new exit node and was signed out. that’s why it took me 10 minutes to reply. maybe i’ll stop forwarding IP addresses to nginx and disable IP rate limiting :P anyway. yeah please do! lmk if something comes out of this. this was the one she tried: https://github.com/openresty/replace-filter-nginx-moduleand the one she wrote needed the following features:capture groupsbackreferencesonly operating on certain mime typesit would be nice if it supported gzip passthrough and gzip on the upstream and downstream, but don’t worry about that.
