If I work for a company, and I see it is HUGELY in debt, would I want to be tied to this company? Probably not.In the same line of thinking, one considers a country that is already trillions of dollars in debt adding 3.5 trillion dollars to its already immense debt.I divorced my ex-wife in '08 (it was actually quite mutual), because while she was the major wage earner, she was also a moron when it came to money management.I did not want to be married to a financial Titanic.

@jessecoynelson I thought Modern Monetary Theory fixes the debt problem using inflation. Or did I miss something??

@robwales I don't know. I'm just a simple guy. I see debt, and the word means "debt" to me. So how does this magic trickery relieve the problem?

@jessecoynelson @robwales modern monetary theory only works if you are the dominant currency. We sort of strong arm people into the petrodollar

@winsomewonder @robwales I wouldn't want a wife like that either, to extend that to my analogy 😀
