@redwhitebluedude "Preliminary findings did not show obvious safety signals among pregnant persons who received mRNA Covid-19 vaccines."Apparently, pregnant men did not suffer much adverse effect either.

@Debradelai @redwhitebluedude They probably said the same about thalidomide shortly after it was released.

@Debradelai @redwhitebluedude It took five years for the connection between thalidomide taken by pregnant women and the impact on their children to be made. Not only did thalidomide change people’s lives, but it resulted in tighter drug testing and reporting of side-effects.This changed the FDA approval process in the early 1960s to include "safety and efficacy" and a category for pregnancy.Forgive me if I don't trust those who assure us things are "safe".And spare me the insults.

@retdoc @redwhitebluedude Generalizing from the particular is the lowest form of fallacy.Only resorted to by morons with no real arguments.Thalidomide and it's troubles are the very cause we have robust mechanisms in place to prevent such occurrences, and in over 1/2 a century they have worked fine.I'm still sorry your mother took it, though.

@redwhitebluedude @Debradelai I am in no way comparing the two. My point is that we don't know what we don't know.Pregnancy outcomes take time to discern as infertility and miscarriages happen normally. Teratogenic effects may take years to become manifest. The FDA normally requires two years of safety data for approval. With a separate category for pregnancy.

@Debradelai @retdoc Why can’t people have a difference of opinion or question even the efficacy of this particular vaccine? Can there be no respectful dialogue anymore?@redwhitebluedude

@redwhitebluedude @Debradelai Shortening this process may lead to unintended consequences of missing important safety signals. Cutting corners may or may not come back to bite us. Time will tell. And those in authority have a lousy track record of predictions and assurances. Just read the news for the past 18 months.Virtually all medical interventions have a risk and a benefit. And that can vary from person to person, along with risk tolerance.

@Kittyk @Debradelai @redwhitebluedude Agree. This site should be a respite from name calling and insults over differences of opinion seen on FB and Twitter. Sadly it is not.

@retdoc @Kittyk @redwhitebluedude Your misleading and cretinous comparison of Thalidomide and Covid vaccines is not an opinion. It's a degenerate effort to saw confusion.Your victim playing is on par with Joyce Reid and it is shameful even if coming from the intellectually handicapped.Sadly, your miserable kind infect all media.

@retdoc @redwhitebluedude Another toot, another fallacy. What process was shortened, what corner cut?Be specific, or be gone.I've had it.

@Kittyk @retdoc @redwhitebluedude The efficacy or lack thereof of a particular medicine or vaccine is not a matter of opinion.Your opinion on, say, the need for bypass surgery or the efficacy of homatropine in the treatment of stomach cramps is a worthless waste of space and resources.Capricious and fallacious comparisons are no opinions either. Respectful dialogue starts with respect for the interlocutor. The spewing of malicious fallacies shows none.

@retdoc @Debradelai @redwhitebluedude Thalidomide was considered safe because it *did not cause issues* in the beagle dogs on which it was tested. DES (diethyl stilbestrol) was considered safe also. My mother took it to help prevent miscarriage in her pregnancy with me and my acardiac twin. It wasn’t safe, but I am here.

@redwhitebluedude @retdoc @Debradelai Nothing. There is absolutely nothing similar. Comparing one thing you’re afraid of for one reason, to something else you’re afraid of for another reason, just because of fear and the one thing they do have in common (medical science), is not logical. By the way: if the Covid vaccine(s) were teratogenic, we would see that in ultrasounds of pregnancies by now. As for miscarriages? impossible to know the precise cause. Correlation is not causation.
