@LukeAlmighty @fluffy I think you're missing a few of the more obvious points, such as the obvious human rights violations, and of course the question of where all that food comes from. Throwing everyone who's starving into prison won't magically give the prison enough food to feed them - if there's already a lack of food, it won't do anything to help them.

Otherwise you would just be left unconscious and bleeding on the side of the road, beaten up, but still alive.Fighting a lot and losing a lot is how you train combat stats.

Their gear is just so cheap it's not worth robbing them. I went down south a bit to the Sheks ( i had found a map before ) and found some more maps. Pretty cool stuff. I'll probably hit their main city, pick up some more research books, before heading back to drop those off. Probably will pop/sell all these research schematics as well. I have enough cash as it is.

They nearly killed my Garru, and my melee character took a bad hit as well. I barely made it out alive. Luckily, my stealth character is mostly fine. Both of the spiders I had killed rebooted and walked off. Later, two came closer, and one of them came back and wanted to eat my garru while I was patching him up, so I dashed away. I think they ate the dying blood spiders, so I didn't get a chance to loot them.Will try to sneak in when night falls.(On the bright side, stealing a dying man and then giving him more stuff (a stack of 60+ steaks) got my looting skill up to 89.)

If i'm not mistaken, that place is the Tower of Spiders and the damn place is full of elder bloodspiders. Not as bad as the Throne of the Bugmaster, but sneaking in there is ill advised because bloodspiders attack range and movement speed.If it was Iron Spiders, you would have a good time sneaking.

The second you set up to attack something, they will be ready to fight. But at the same time, the second you disengage something and its out of their aggro range, they will fuck off.The spider would probably wander off trying to get up that cliff and munch your organs as long as you keep on shooting and fuck off when you stop. Happens a lot as long as you are out of their aggro and they can't catch up. As well, i recommend that as long as your Crossbow skill is below 40 you don't use oldbows. Your shooters will take a lot of time to aim and reload. And if you're guys aren't good at shooting they might shoot your own fighters by accident as well. But they are good against Bloodspiders because they inflict a lot of bleeding.

This means your guys will level Crossbow, dex and perception very fast and also level their Precision Shooting (AKA, shooting without shooting your guys in the back) without a lot of risk. The Eagle's Cross is the best crossbow in terms of damage and range, but you better have the guy wielding it at 50 Precision Shooting, or else you risk him blowing an arm or a leg off one of your fighters. Also, ammo for the cross is very expensive and comes in packages of 10 rather than 50 like Toothpicks.Also, if you want to make lots of money and fast, try stealing the Scraphouse in Black Desert City. You can make some serious bank stealing entire truckloads of MKII and Edge Type 1 weapons from the Skeletons and selling those in Waystations or to the Shek.Also, have scorchlanders making armor since they get it up faster. Once you get their armor skill up to 90 they will have around 10% of making masterwork armor, which is for what you should aim.

Place is crawling with guards but also with engineering research, ancient books and AI cores. And on top of all, very high tier gear (btw, bought/stolen gear in Kenshi will ALWAYS be better than weapons that you forge. Armor is the same but weapons are better if they are not made by your guys. Use your guys to make training weapons).If it's worth restarting? Yes. When you get dedicated armor production you will need 2 people for light armor, 3 for heavy and 4 for chainmail. Chainmail takes a lot of time to make and you will need it to make plated drifter's pants (one of the best leg armor). Depending on the weapon you use and how you want your guys to fight, you need to dress the accordingly. But all in all, having 2-3 armorers (1 to turn raw iron into plates or skins into leather and another making the armor) is not a bad idea. Exploting the bonus XP of all the races is important since after 50 XP gains begin to get extremely slim. I can give you my tips for leveling stats if you want.Also, my hat goes to you for decking all those leviathans. Even when i set up a fort in the Leviathan coast i didn't killed that many.

If you build close enough you have arid terrain (cactus and wheat) and swamp (for rice and hemp). Good iron resources and you're in the middle of the map if you need to buy or sell stuff. The only problem is that you will get raided by Black Dragon Ninjas and they will run straight for your stuff (prioritizing food) and then bail. If you don't have anything, they will just beat up your dudes. You also get raided by Dust bandits, but those are piss easy tbh.The regular enemies and good resources should ensure you don't go hungry easily and you keep your guys busy beating up starving hobos and bandits. After a while, you should set up a training arena with some living targets to level up your squaddies.Also, if you want to train your guys it's better if you put as many penalties on their combat capabilities as you can. Crab armor + trader's Backpack is a good starter that will get your guys beat up like no tomorrow, but level up their defense skill extremely fast.You als are pretty close to several bounties like the Dust King, Buzan, Dimak, Tora, Shade and Gorillo.

Weapons on the other hand are restocked every 7 days.Also, if you set up a robotics fabrication operation you can make inmense amounts of money from selling hinges, skeleton muscles and electrics there.

The main problem is needing to carry Skeleton Repair Kits and bandages, as well as needing a Skeleton Repair Bed from time to time to get the prosthetic to full health.The HN consider you a Skeleton if you have a prosthetic, yes, but they will only raid you if you fuck around with them too much (meaning having a very low reputation with them). Until then, they will just attack on sight whoever they see around. And even if they are low tech, they mean business. The paladins are pretty brutal as fighters (50 in combat stats) and once you're a seasoned Kenshi player, you know that Gear doesn't mean squat if you don't have the stats. And remember that a lot of armor also gives you stat penalties when you wear them. The HN is quite dangerous, specially if you have skeletons. And the bulk of their armies are around level 50-40, sending mostly Holy Sentinels who have no armor and crappy weapons, but decent stats. It's Paladins who you have to worry about.As for the smith, if it's weapons is only if you have no other alternative than making your own. But i only use low level smiths to make crappy wakizashis for training since the less damage you deal the more you will get out of every training session. Otherwise, only focus on armor. Since buying masterwork armor from the Armor King will make you go bankrupt very quick. And worse of all, stealing from him is nearly impossible.Also, small tip: make your guys wear Martial Artists Binds. They boost all damage they deal by 5%, which by the end of the game, is quite a lot of damage.

You captures someone who is good at fighting (Dust Bandit, a Reaver, a Red Saber, A Black Dragon Ninja), you make a walled arena in your base with cages and beds and when you have some recruit that needs to get his combat skills up, you set them to fight your prisioners. The less damage you do, the more the training session (fight) will last. That's why Wakizashis are very good: The attack fast, deal very little damage and they are excellent to train dexterity.The armor king is the guy that sells the best armors in the game. All kinds of armor and very high grades. Problem is that he's in the middle of fucking nowhere. If i remember correctly, he's close to the HN (barely went there since it's better to craft my own armor rather than go to his shack in fuck all country). If you're planning on robbing him, it's almost impossible but you're welcome to try.Martial Artists Binds are a piece of gear that is wore in the undershirt slot. It boosts martial arts, prevents your guys from taking damage when punching people or things and boosts all sorts of damage your guys deal by 5%. Crossbows included.

But i never did because it's just not worth it to go there to get armor.Also, if you're close to the Floatsam Ninja base, you would do well hiring Reva, Knife and Pia. All unique recruits and Pia starts with 50 Athletics and 0 in everything else. Plus, they all talk shit about the HN, becoming a radar for Paladins if you go around the HN in the same way Miu is a radar for Spiders

They have a few free recruits there (i think Pia is free) but Reva and Knife ask for 3K before joining.Also, don't have people with prosthetics or Skeletons get close to the Floatsams. They are not HN, but they will hate you for the same reasons.If you become buddies with them you will be enemy of the HN tho. In the same way if you are buddies with the Anti Slavers you will be enemies with the UC and the Merchant's Guild. All of them are assholes. The only ones i kinda let be are the Rebel Peasants, even if they are retards with swords.

The Ashlands (in the southeast) are the endgame of Kenshi. Dangerous enviroment hazards and high level enemies everywhere, along with the Skeleton bandits, the Skin Bandits and the Southern Hive ready to kill all your guys. Better to not wander there unless you have a big squad of people of level 70 or higher... or high sneak and Athletics.Also, the UC controls an enormous amount of nothing. The HN has smaller territory, but they are more clustered together. The northern UC are 5 cities over an enormous stretch of desert full of bandits, ninjas and rebel farmers. And in the south the have 3 more cities, threatened by Rebel Peasants and Fishmen. And their troops are pretty good too. Also, very important is to not go with Hemp to the UC or the Samurai will curbstomp you for drug possession.

Default?And if you want to go south, you can go through Venge at night when there are no lasers (between 11 and 5), go all around Greenbeach and the Pits (very dangerous since it's full of Skeleton Bandits, Crab Raiders, Reavers, Grass Pirates...) or go back to the northern UC and then go south through the HN (safe, but time consuming. And remember, no Skellies or Non humans) and then cross through the Swamps. Also, if you want to cross venge, Skellies are inmune to the sun lasers and everyone else would be inmune as long as they wear a Dustcoat and a Crab Helmet.If you want o reach the southern UC cities, you have to reach the Boneyard, where Catun is. After that, just go west along the coast to find the other cities.Also, in the Northern UC cities there are a few unique recruits. One of them is Red, my favourite, which starts with decent thieving skills and is in the port all the way to the north, but will only joing you if you have a small squad with no backpacks. Also, in the swamp you have some more unique recruits like Hamut (joins for free), Miu (also for free), Green (asks for 6K, but very good with crossbows), Doctor Chung (asks for 3.5K but very good doctor) and Silvershade (asks for 6K, but good doctor and science). The thing with unique recruits is that they either have unique dialoge lines, interaction with other unique recruits (like Crumblejon and Luquin or Beep and Agnu) or they come with good stats (like Griffith, Kang or Infinite Wingwang).

Plus, i tend to do a few recruitment drives there for fresh squaddies.The route is pretty good. I recommend you stop at Flats Lagoon and avoid the Burning Forest alltogether (acid rain + bloodspiders all over the place) and rush to Mourn and then Catun. Try and run as much as you can in the Bonefields since the local fauna is very hungry and very dangerous (like bonedogs with 30-40 in their stats and man eating giraffes).After Catun, just go West to find the two other UC holdings in the south. You could also go to settle in Fishman Island since it's a very secluded place full of low level enemies, fertile land, very good resources and extremely easy to defend.

There was a tip that at the very edge, there would be a research lab.Along the way I found this factory. I snuck in, looted what I could, got knocked out by the foreman (a robot). 3% chance to stealth KO, this guy must be nutty strong. Lucky for me, after knocking me out he just walked away, and I casually looted the rest of the place before limping out to safety.Three AI cores and one AB. And I still have the other one I haven't looted left.I had three AI cores from the scrapyard. With these three that brings me to six. I've spent one on hydroponics. That leaves five. I could spend two on the next tech level and see what it opens up.

The guy you found is one of the toughest NPCs in the game, the foreman and the guy, IIRC, has the Meitou staff (the best staff in the game, none better in terms of damage)There are more guys around like him who are mad strong and have the best weapons of the game, but you gotta take them down (like the director of Agriculture and the Head of Police), but all the Meito weapons (most of them) are in posession of diplomatic NPCS like the Holy Lord Phoenix, Emperor Tengu, Valamon, the Crab Queen or Esata the Stone Golem. And you cannot knock out these guys easily. But if you're lucky, you can go to the Skinhous HQ (in Sonorous Dark) and Kidnap Savant (leader of the Skin Bandits) when he sleeps, steal all his stuff and his Meitou Nodachi. Unfortunately, the Skin Bandits will be hostile if you're human.Still, if you're hungry for more tech items, go to the Floodlands or if you want a big payout, the Crater and The Grid.

I'll probably get the depressed guy back into my main party once I cross back across the HN (might go north and avoid the patrols in the first place. There are entire armies of those around but believe me, you don't need a gasmask for the fog. You only need it for the gas clouds that are only in the Ashlands.In the middle of the Fog Islands is Mongrel, a lone city with 4 unique recruits, one of them is Beep (you better recruit him and make sure he doesn't die), which will follow you around until you speak with him to recruit him. The others are Crumblejon, Shryke and Infinite Wingwang (guy has around 20-30 in combat stats, but costs 7.5K. Best unique recruit in the game).Also, with the HN patrols they are random on questioning your group. Sometimes they will whack you instantly while others they will demand you hand over non humans to them as slaves. Watch out because Paladins mean business but as long as your bounty doesn't exceed 10K cats, it will go away after a while.

Naginata and naginata katana are beasts against unarmored targets, being the Naginata katana the best due to its longer blade and extra damage against humans, but both do poorly against heavily armored enemies.If you're fighting armor, use the polearm and heavy polearm. They sacrifice the extra damage for armor penetration, being the Heavy polearm particularly powerful in that regard. And obviously, all have massive penalties to fighting indoors, so better have a Wakizashi, a Jitte or a Katana for indoors fighting.

There are also heavy jittes, which are to fight outdoors, but the bastards are very heavy and very big.

You want anti-armor power, you need to use clubs (mercenary club being the best with 30% armor penetration) or a Heavy Jitte.Also, heavy armor tends to do poorly against blunt damage, so blunt weapons do naturally well against armor while slashing ones (katanas, sabres...) do poorly.And then you have heavy weapons, who just pummel through everything but they are heavy as hell and therefore, very slow.

Starts with 70 engineering so she will build stuff fast as hell. Also, pack your Garrus with building materials, iron plates, leather, fabrics and plants to farm. And like i said, Shem is a good place for a starter base since you don't pay taxes and the enemies that go to you aren't really that serious (black dragon ninjas being the most dangerous with 20-30 in their stats).And remember, if you want to level up strength, load your guys with iron and make them carry a person.

One more on the way bringing about 70 construction material. In addition to these guys, I have two armorsmiths at 68 and 83 in the UC capital, they are with my chief scientist at 78 science. There's loads of supplies there and pack beasts outrun just about everything, take not damage from acid, the plan is to just ship there if I need anything. I do have to buy food for them occasionally but otherwise they are generally self-sufficient. I have sadneil and a farmer in Black Desert City. I think I will send Sadneil to the main group once I set up. He's at about 25 strength 40 labor 25 athletics.

@fluffy @Chimera @SneedsterSpeedster @icedquinn @lichelordgodfrey @march @nikiboo @waifu @xue Those are some real nice stats for starters, but remember you need your squad properly geared and trained if you want to take on the world of Kenshi (after all, if you take down some of the most serious NPCs, the faction will raid your base with ALL THEY HAVE).Most important is Strength so they can fight and move at full capability (you need 2 times the weight of the weapon in strength in order to use it at full speed), next one is attack, dexterity and defense. Toughness btw is only leveled up by taking repeated beatings, but it's leveled up faster by making your guys not play dead and fighting. The more enemies around you when you stop playing dead, the more XP you will earn for toughness.Headshot is already good for crossbows, but give her something nice and light for melee like a Jitte. Everyone else depends on what you want to use or how you want to fight. There is no "best weapon" or "best armor" in Kenshi so having a bit of everything never hurts.Also, you can have someone in heavy armor, set to block and taunt in order to be the main tank of the group and draw enemy attention while your other guys fight enemies 1 on 1 and have the tank getting swarmed by enemies.

But you will have to deal with the Black Dragon Ninjas coming to steal your food and the Dust Bandits extoring you for money on the regular (and potentially, hordes of Starving Bandits roaming around), and ocassionally a few Beak Things that will attack your people.I always pick a small area with the border with the swamp, where the only road that goes into the swamp is (south west area IIRC). Also, if you need food you can send your ninjas to the Swamp villages and Shark to steal fish from the vendors during the day (when the chest is unguarded).Also, from my own experience you better keep an eye on anything you send away to a distant place (like Black Scratch, Stack or Northern UC territories). Their pathing will fuck up constantly and will stop for long periods of time trying to regain their pathing, sometimes unsuccessfully. If you send people out of your base, send one group and keep a constant eye on them so when they stop in the middle of nowhere for no reason, you can order them to move in the right direction instead of staying still and be pummeled without defending themselves.

You need it to build nearly every workstation, make armor and build most containers of any kind. Later you can refine it into steel to make chainmail.Copper is needed to make electrical components, Wind turbines and copper plates. In short, you need copper to make robotics (kits and prosthetics) and to make hemp refineries if you want to start producing hash.Prioretize Iron over copper, but have in mind that copper is still very needed in the long run. Not as much as iron, but still important to have.

I recommend the strength training bench, that will allow you to train your guys up to 60 strength. Athletics can only be leveled up by running around, but you can set up people to haul stuff from 1 place on the edge of your base to your other end of the base constantly and have them train athletics constantly.Combat can only be leveled fighting against stronger people, so no question about it. There is also a mod that makes a wooden dummy to train dex up to 20, which is very necessary.

MacDonald the farmer from Black Desert City and a Garru with shipments of building supplies, alloys, copper, and food from Heng. Fun fact, elder garru at 30 spd outrun beak things because their attack animation is so slow.As well as upgraded gear, everyone in Specialist or higher armor. Edge and/or mw weapons. I am so starved on building material. Also, wonder if I should send an expedition out from here, just ninja rei and a garru, to explore south. Maybe once I build a few more defensive emplacements, maybe a killzone I can easily attack from, or even two doorways.

Go there if you need to buy materials. And if you really are desperate for materials, set up a stone mine and start working on it. If you don't have the numbers, build a more advanced mine (if you have the power to support it).Also, Beak things can be perfectly kited with one guy with a Tooth Pick and you could effectlively kill one by pelting it to death little by little. You won't de aggro them, but they will not land a hit on you. And two Gates are really good if you want a killbox for anyone that wants to shank you. If you have a good number of Skeletons, you can even have them as permanent guards on your crossbow emplacements.

Getting beaten up is only part of the joyful experience of kenshi.And that notif is probably the game either despawning the guys of a warning to tell you it's safe to return since they are no longer within the bounds of the outpost.

NPCs will patch themselves up before strolling back up again playing dead like your characters. Make sure they have no medicine and once they get back up, your dudes should make them bite the dust again with no problems.But like i said: cages, poles or crucifixes. or of you want to make sure they are dead 100% kidnap Savant and learn how to make Peeler Machines in order to kill people for sure.

No slavers come to your outpost.Plus, NPCs will be aggresive before running away, they will just want to whack you first and fuck off second. I always make sure to have peeler machines to make sure they stay dead or keep them as training dummies.

If I'm not killing the beak things, they tend to take care of bandits and the like. The double gate I think also helped, those usually end up tricking AIsSince things calmed down, I sent Ninja Rei south to explore. Already I've delved two ruins for five Ancient Books. What I want now is Engineering Research x3 for the tier 3 walls and gates. Here are my expansion plans: I settled around where I had originally planned, but, was present pretty far away from iron and copper, so I will need to expand further out to it, since a lack of iron is really hamstringing my growth. Luckily, access to stone means I can build walls over thataway.The downside is that I'm always seeing beak things over there, and that it would more than double my base size: and my base already has a lot more room than I need.

You will need a big building for a hospital and another one as a pantry, land to plant crops, space to mine stone and refine iron and also a big building for general crafting (fabrics, meds, smithing...)And also, to have a training arena to keep your trainees in shape by beating up prisioners on the regular.
