TiM complains that Mom makes him pay rent AND that she expects something in return for playing into his delusions. But as I’ve said in other comments, it’s VERY difficult to find the energy and motivation to clean a room I hate living in. @Spookyszn @sunspot I've seen this view a number of times, it seems fairly prevalent on reddit. That if you choose to have children you are obliged to support them financially, practically and in all ways for as long as you live, since they didn't consent to being born. And any parent failing to do this will probably be labelled as abusive or narcissistic. It's really strange

@HebrideanHecate @Spookyszn @sunspot We have great relationships with our kids but they can't wait to get to be independent and enjoy working and earning money. I see that as a sign of successful parenting. Maybe that's because the oldest ones are girls! Our 20 and 18 yr old daughters are in college and both have been working and traveling this summer. I can't imagine them living in a pigsty room at our house at 35 (and I don't know if we even let that be an option unless they were mentally ill). This is definitely "failure to launch". Mind you, my nephew and his girlfriend are 26 and buying their first flat after saving for years.

Says he has no landlord references. It comes out that his only "landlord" is an ex that owned or rented her own place. He lived with her briefly until she came to her senses and returned him to mummy. Says he has a terrible credit score which is either from irresponsible spending or no history. I'm going to guess he's taken out a bunch of credit cards to support his gaming habit and that caught up with him. He says he works "nine hour days." I'm assuming he's counting the time it takes his mother to drive him to and from work as part of his workday. Says he can't clean his room because "ADHD." I'm guessing his paychecks go to his debt and his tacky mall clothes.

I've consistently held a job since I was 14, raised kids, have advanced degrees and wasn't even diagnosed until all those big things had already happened...I also know how to clean (albeit, in meandering, 'omg that's a squirrel!" fashion).

I have had some strange hot episodes but I run hotter than every woman I know anyway. Also some bursts of rage. Menopause, pandemic, or generalized rage against men?
