I just joined The Satanic Temple. If you don't know what it is, you should definitely check it out. It's not what the name indicates, trust me, it's more like a satirical nontheistic counter-religion. It has nothing to do with Satan. It has to do with liberties, empathy, freedom and science. They advocate for a lot of good stuff such as reproductive freedoms and probably LGBTQIA+ community as well.https://thesatanictemple.com/pages/faq

They don't force anything on you. Registration for the Temple and mailing list is completely free (both as in free speech and free beer), and only requires your e-mail address, full name, country and state or province, but there's no verification, so you can fake the data.

Another cool thing is that, whenever Christian people come and legally force things on you because of “religious freedom” (i.e. you can't do this because my religion says so), you can defend yourself in the name of the same religious freedom by saying you are a member of The Satanic Temple, so you can do things that you wouldn't otherwise be able to do if not were for stupid religious freedom laws.

@lorabe I hadn't thought of it like that. I agree with many aspects of libertarianism, and I might be somewhat left-libertarian in many ways.

@lorabe But I don't think I'm a libertarian per se. I'm against many forms of power, but I support taxes and strong regulations for capitalists, for example, and I oppose most aspects of capitalism.

@avalos you always learn something new.I have never heard the combination of leftism and libertarianism. Leftism and anarchism sounds more fitting.

@avalos you know the modern satanic church originated in america, there has to be some "small government" ideology in there. As long as they don't try to force politics in their religion... satanism looks fine.

@lorabe Well, the only politics they advocate for are human rights, separation of State and Church, religious freedom (not the forcing things on others kind of pseudo-freedom), etc. There are politics, but thry're mostly neutral to many things, it seems. However, as soon as I don't agree with them on something, I can easily exit from that religion, I don't owe them anything. It's not something too serious for me anyway.

@lorabe It's more like a matter of self-identification, sense of belonging, advocacy and rebellion. Nothing sacred, nothing spiritual, nothing supernatural.
