I don't ever want to see an Evangelical Christian call Joseph Smith's stories suspicious again if they can overlook this shit 🤣

@Firstamongkittens Josiah is the King who commissioned the Deuteronomist account of history in the first place.

@SteveJail It's a little bit suspicious, since he is indirectly praising himself. You can, however, give him the benefit of the doubt, since it most likely was something widely believed to have happened for him to put it into an important text like that. Joseph Smith's stories are MUCH more unbelievable, they are completely ludicrous and offer no reason for you to believe in them.

@Firstamongkittens Josiah was a King who led the greatest religious reform, and likely genocide, in Old Israeli history. He killed all the gods except Yahweh, including Yahweh's tree/wife Ashtar, and rewrote the entire tribal history DPRK style. He's less plausible that Joseph Smith and it's not even close. Joseph Smith only seems more ridiculous because he's more recent.

@SteveJail Now I just don't get what you mean. "Plausible" to me means "believable". Now you are saying that what was said in the bible is true?

@Firstamongkittens Considering something like 40% of the Bible was either written or extensively redacted by Josiah's regime, no, I am explicitly not saying that. I'm not sure how you could even extract such a take from my response.

@SteveJail The passage you showed is a prophecy that he would do exactly the things you said he did.

@Firstamongkittens A passage that his regime wrote...I'm not explaining this anymore. It's not confusing at all.

@SteveJail You show a passage which predicts that Josiah would kill all pagans. You doubt the plausibility of those passages. I explain why you could give him the benefit of the doubt. You reply that it is not plausible because he killed all the pagans. Meaning you doubt something that you yourself declared to be true. And, even if you mean that those things were simply not said back then, why wouldn't anyone challenge that ever? Regardless, how is that more unbelievable than finding a gold inscribed tablet out of nowhere that only you had access to, that was then lost, and give people literally no reason at all to believe in you? And translating a supposed lost book of the Bible that, again, only you had access to, and expect people to believe you?

@Firstamongkittens It would be like Abraham Lincoln revising the letters of Thomas Jefferson to claim that one day someone names Abraham Lincoln would free the slaves.Your objection is silly.
