""The American College of Pediatricians, the Catholic Medical Association, and an OB-GYN doctor who specializes in caring for adolescents filed suit in federal court to challenge a Biden administration mandate requiring doctors to perform gender transition procedures on any patient, including a child, if the procedure violates a doctor’s medical judgment or religious beliefs,” read a press release from the Alliance Defending Freedom."https://www.dailywire.com/news/3000-plus-pediatricians-medical-professionals-sue-biden-over-transgender-mandateThese are all conservative groups but they may have a case about doctors being forced to go against their medical judgement.

@meogsis I hate that they wedge religious freedom into everything.

@snerber @meogsis If Catholics have to use their belief in magic to combat TRA belief in magic, it’s fair.

@skullhoney That only protects Catholic healthcare providers unfortunately. Kids can always find willing gender captured doctors. @meogsis

@snerber Unfortunately, with nullification surgeries and lifelong puberty blockers pushing at the edges of the Overton window, a wholesale social rejection of genderism is unlikely to happen soon. Children will be able to find willing prescribers for the foreseeable future. We fight and ally for today’s battles with the eye on winning the bigger warDeep breath. @snerber This probably isn't going to get that far, unfortunately. I wish these were mainstream medical associations and such and not right-wing groups. They make it too easy for the trans and their supporters to completely discount them and what they have to say. WHY can't these people EVER get the argument right? It isn't about conscience, and it isn't about religion. It is about women's and children's RIGHTS. It is about biological reality.

@susannunes @snerber Unfortunately this is what we're stuck with in the USA since freedom of conscience isn't explicitly enshrined in the Constitution (Tenth Amendment be damned, apparently) and no one in power gives a shit about the rights of women or children. "But muh religion" is a pretty reliable defense in times like these.

@bornwithovaries @susannunes @snerber The Treaty of Tripoli says explicitly that the United States is not a Christian nation. It was ratified unanimously by Congress and signed by President John Adams in 1797. Stick that one under the nose of anyone who thinks Christianity should be the state religion. And if they give you any bull about how that is not a statute law, it's a treaty, treaties are covered under the Supremacy Clause. In Texas you cannot hold public office if you do not believe in a supreme being.

@meogsis @snerber Maybe a sensible group of actual doctors, like Partners for Ethical Care, will file an amicus curiae brief. Amicus curiae means "friend of the court". Those are filed by interested parties who are not parties to the suit, but want to present supporting evidence for whichever side to the judge.
