I worked in many different companies before starting my own. Almost everytime, the productivity problem was not about how much time people spent at work but how fucking disorganized and inefficient they were. So, in my experience, it's more of a manager issue than anything else.

Look at how many jobs were deemed unnecessary in spring 2020, and how food service, an entire industry built upon providing a luxury to the masses, lost something like half of all small businesses involved in it and is struggling to fill the remaining jobs, all with little meaningful impact to the country. We're automating and streamlining ourselves out of being legitimately useful.

You have to work out of hours sometimes, but the flexibility you get in return is worth it.If I was putting in 70 hour weeks, A) my boss would stop it and B) if it didn't I would have the discussion with my management and we'd come to an arrangement.
