@emilis@pub.sectorinf.com @chjara@is.tuxcrafting.online there are a couple of thought processes available to people the pattern recognition one is more universally available and in use almost always, so it's the default coincidentally, pattern recognition picks up on dumb things like this humans also have access to type 2 thought, but it requires a lot of effort, and for a lot of recent (read: couple thousand years) history, the material conditions simply weren't there to encourage people to use it (rather the opposite happened)so it's hardly surprising

@chjara @emilis I buy that cuz red haired people are rare.I remember watching a horror movie where some superstitious boaters were very uncomfortable about letting a red haired girl on board.

@Paradox@busshi.moe @chjara@is.tuxcrafting.online people generally consider antiquity to end with the fall of Rome in 476 AD.I consider Rome to have ended in 44 BC, when C. Iulius Caesar was named dictator for life. But it goes farther back.

@emilis See that was what I'd call "a long fucking time ago".Also, why put the date there? Rome definitely still existed after Caesar.

@dubh diversity is in a social context. saying a team is diverse because there's men and women, whites and blacks, etc is relevant because they are socially distinct categories often treated differentlyeven if the categories themselves don't make any sense

@emilis Ahh. Meh, I feel like as long as the name didn't change, the spirit of the country was close enough to count.Tracking a nation through time, marking its changes, and figuring out what counts as a new country is very murky, for sure, but I figure a name change would be tantamount to the entire culture undergoing a significant shift. At some point the Roman pantheon just died out, and that was /prolly/ around the time that Rome died.
