Today on "What Am I Doing?":Toot! A mastodon client written in python for the terminal. It's pretty great, has a nice UI, and is easy to use. The main problem is its feature-set. If you'd like to view images or any other attachments (polls, etc.) it requires you to open up a browser, which defeats the purpose if you ask me, but otherwise it's great and I'd recommend giving it a try. Take a look at it here: https://github.com/ihabunek/toot

@noodlez1232 You can press "m" to view photos. Problem is the toot documentation never tells you this...

Also on the list: Mercury! A Gemini alternative without the encryption. I've been in the middle of making a basic line-mode client using pure POSIX shell scripting. Take a look at the original mailing list here: https://lists.orbitalfox.eu/archives/gemini/2020/001842.htmlMy main gripe with Gemini is its requirement for encryption. Some languages have better libraries for this than others, and the complexity of TOFU makes it pretty annoying to write a client for.
