This is what they don't appear to know which will reveal how dangerous the situation is, as well as the enormity of Biden's failure (in my view, a crime).Let's start with the Afghans who have SIVs.

Thus far, about ~2000 have been evacuated. That's good.However, there are at least ~16,000 SIVs in total and a further 18,000 applications still being processed. Some experts put the true figure at 50,000. Let's say they get 5,000 out (doubtful). You do the math on how many die - PLUS their families. Horror show.All because of Joe Biden, who could have got them out months ago.

How about US citizens?Astonishing - Biden is ranking them BEHIND Afghans. Which means almost none have gotten out.There are ~10,000 US citizens in Afghanistan, most in or around Kabul. Almost all are trapped there.You think the Taliban will give them free passage? There's another group at risk - US soldiers.

There are at least 1,000 US troops at the airport. Apparently 6,000 more are on the way, but I haven't seen anything confirming they are there.Somehow people seem to assume that they'll be fine. Really? My heart hopes they will be, but my head says they're being lured into a trap. Why?The Taliban control Kabul, including its airspace, for starters. Any plane getting in or out is doing so only because the Taliban are letting bit happen.

The Taliban are also armed to the teeth. They can destroy any aircraft they want, at any time.They can destroy the military part of the airport on which the US soldiers are isolated.And they have at least 85,000 soldiers (some say 200,000). All armed to the teeth.

@REX Thank you for your austere writing, these are grave and solemn time in our countries history. I have a nice life tucked away in the outskirts of Santa BArbara. It's hard for most of us to imagine. I have always had an interest in the middle east if not for any other reason than biblical teachings. @REX If China is in control of the Taliban then they'd tell the Talibs to allow the US forces to leave without further bloodshed. The propaganda value of watching US forces leave humiliated is huge for the CCP. Should the Talibs fire on the troops then the risk is some people here would rally behind the military and flag.Maybe that's a bit optimistic from me.

@Movietime_Blues You make a good point.It's in Xi's interests to keep his pooch (Biden) in power.However, it's also in Xi's interests to remind his pooch who is in charge.The Taliban will definitely do something. Each US citizen is (literally) worth $millions in cash. US soldiers? Invaluable.This issue isn't just affecting America, BTW.I fear for the Australians stranded there - Xi is taking the stick to Australia right now. Could end up being very bad for them.
