So I'm using #Protonmail a bit more lately, thinking it can't be that* different from other email services I've used... and I'm discovering just now that there is no SCHEDULED SEND feature. ๐Ÿคจ @protonmail So all you angry folks saying we can ditch the more popular services (just coz you hate them) I'm guessing you don't actually* use the products you list (and preach) as alternatives*.Ain't much of an alternative if it can't do what the others do, eh? ๐Ÿ˜

@tychi Kinda disappointing. You'd think a simple feature like that would be standard, but it's not. And their encryption selling point is really only good if the recipient is into encryption too. So basically, it functions mostly as regular mail with some missing bells and whistles. #protonmail #tutanota

@evelynyap I've used protonmail for years so I had a look. Low priority 'to do' so I wouldn't expect it anytime soon. https://www.reddit.com/r/ProtonMail/comments/b3zu1f/send_with_time_delay/

@aslanmane Yeah. I can understand them not having great integration yet -- e.g. calendars etc. But Scheduled Send can't be that complicated. Anyway the security/encryption they're selling only applies when the recipient is also doing encryption. So all else is regular mail. They could say that Scheduled Send is not available for encryption, but at least let it be available for regular emails. ๐Ÿ™„

@evelynyap I've used email encryption to send sensitive documents to non-protonmail users. I use them because it's a free service and encryption and trust is better than gmail (what I was using). I agree send delay doesn't appear to be hard to implement, to be fair not working there I wouldn't know :D

@aslanmaneMy problem with that is that there's a chance the recipient won't understand (unbelievable to techies, I know) and erring on the safe side they'll end up not opening/reading the message at all.As long as I'm not sending sensitive info, regular mail will do (for me). I'll just pretend I'm sending #postcards and everyone handling it is nosy and looking at it. ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธI do wish everyone understands about encrypting #emails and does it. But not even my contacts that work in #tech do it. ๐Ÿ™„

@evelynyap This is one reason why I'm working on Mensago. Encryption in general is hard, PGP doesn't do as much as people think, and so many other problems with it so people don't generally bother.

@JonYoder Perhaps Mensago will be the thing that sticks. Can't count how many times I gave PGP a try. And here I am, still not really making good use of it.

@evelynyap Hi, thank you for your feedback. We recently released the Undo send feature, which is a precursor to building scheduled sending. Undo send can currently do a delay of up to 20 seconds, but it can be extended to arbitrarily long durations. Therefore, scheduled sending of emails should be coming soon.

@protonmail Thanks for the info. Good to know. It'll be useful for people like me that function and operate off the clock, e.g. weekends and graveyard hours, but want their emails to arrive in people's inboxes at appropriate times, e.g. office hours or the waking hours at another time zone.

@evelynyap I certainly hope so. #Mensago will either be my magnum opus or a really good multiyear learning experience. ๐Ÿ˜
