@stux it'd be a good "opt in" feature, but I wouldn't like it being forced upon all the users, because some of them (mostly artists) rely on others, being able to see their old work. :blobfoxthinksmirk:

@stux Signal app has this feature you can enable. you can decide to keep every message or just the 100/500/1000/5000 more recent ones or just set your custom number of recent messages

@stuxI've seen a couple Fediverse accounts that use tools to achieve a similar effect, probably to conserve server space or something.It would certainly be a cool idea, since a lot of people aren't overly concerned with preserving their social media history, although personally I would opt out.

@ChonkyCat Haha but I won’t use the feature myself :blobcatgiggle: 😊 i wanna keep my toots! But it’s good for others and privacy in general I think! Also the server does like a cleanup
