@ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver It certainly complicates things. They may work it out - so many factors to address, and now the conflict is open.It still intrigues me to see the Democrats openly denouncing each other. After 20 plus years of maintaining a unified front, they are carrying on like relatives who hate each other at a family reunion.Cori Bush's notorious eviction stunt and Biden's breaking the law have energized the squad. They are flying high, without a plane.

@timr @ChrisYork87 @TheCalmObserver at first I wanted to say "ready for the crash" but going back to the memes of earlier tonight, I envision Wile E Coyote suddenly realizing there's no ground beneath his feet....

@Arcalian @ChrisYork87 @TheCalmObserver It really is quite a show. And now the self-described Dem 'moderates' have the boldness that comes from fear. The Dems cannot lose more than three votes. So both sides are carrying on. And Republicans are completely outside of it

@ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver That is what Pelosi demands - or rather, what the squad demands and Pelosi communicates.Whether that will happen - we do know that internal Dem conflict awaits.

@timr @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver still don’t understand how 19 republicans voted for a crappy bill although wasn’t 3.5 trillion…. Was it to avoid media attack and play along to avoid scrutiny? Pretty weak if you ask me

@ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver If the GOP had not voted for Bill #1, Infrastructure, the Dems would have stuffed most of it in the Reconciliation Bill anyway - and it is almost all budget related, so it would likely be acceptable. But the GOP would have no say at all.1/2

@ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver With no Infrastructure Bill, there would be tremendous pressure for the Dems to do something - even for Manchin and Sinema. Now they can say - we voted on the Infrastructure Bill. And they are on record opposing Bill #2 - Reconciliation - in its current form.Much less pressure.2/3

@ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver 6I can do without the sanctimonious GOP posturing - but it doesn't matterYes, it would be better to have no Bill at all. But the GOP is playing a difficult hand. So far, they are doing quite well, considering. And every other Bill is either DOA or dying.3/3

@pma05 Any response to the Bills would divide Republicans. That can't be helped. If Bill #1 had failed, the Dems would have put most of it in the Reconciliation Bill - and made that Bill more likely to pass in some form.At this point the Dems are tearing each other part about these Bills - and are continuing today. It all looks very different than it dud even two weeks ago. And not because of the GOP@ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver

@pma05Yes - the Dems do hold the cards. The filibuster is intact and HR1/S1 is dead. Those are triumphs. We will only know from a historical perspective how important these victories are. @ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver

@LakePacificLoverI don't see how it can be allowed in a Reconciliation Bill - it has nothing to do with the budget or finance. The Dems themselves seemed very uncertain and skeptical. So I don't know. They are stuffing everything into their trash bag and hoping something survives the votes and the Senate Parliamentarian These Bills are the last hope for the Dems. Their usual panic@pma05 @ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver

@LakePacificLoverInfrastructure can be done at any time. The last one was in 2015 - the current Bill follows on the expiration of much of that one.Usually there is one Reconciliation Bill each year. This year, the January Stimulus Bill used Reconciliation because there was no Bill last year. The Senate Parliamentarian allowed two this year. This current one is for the 2022 budget. @pma05 @ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver

@LakePacificLover An office with the Parliamentarian in charge. Elizabeth Macdonough was appointed by Harry Reid. When the position opens up, the current Senate Majority Leader nominates the next one@pma05 @ChrisYork87 @Arcalian @TheCalmObserver
