It means everyone considers these surgeries unethical when it comes to kids and we just have a more official way to consider them illegal.Why complaining for further protection against something that, they say, nobody considers good? This is why I’m so suspicious about how hard TRA’s are fighting against anti-FGM bills.Although it’s obviously abhorrent on its face to be against an anti-FGM bill, their reasoning for taking that stance is even more horrifying. It’s because they say it would limit girls’ “access” to “SRS.” Or in other words, being neutered and their vulva replaced with a grafted piece of rotting thigh skin.But then at the same time, if you bring this up to TRA’s, they say “no one is promoting performing SRS on minors, no one wants to do that, you’re just paranoid, etc.”But this bill only applies to minor girls, having FGM performed non-consensually on them. It doesn’t limit any cosmetic procedure they may sign for as an adult. And supposedly, TRA’s aren’t trying to push for SRS on minors.So why are they fighting so hard to prevent any legal safety rails that would prevent this procedure for minors, that apparently no one wants to do anyway? If they don’t want to do this to girls, then why are they so concerned about a loss of “access”?

@Lilitu @Gelatinousrube @MandyJane i don't think it's very common yet, but yes.surgeon's discretion is also needed and they're more likely to say yes if you have endometriosis or some issue... (who knows if that applies now, since they could be discriminatory for saying no...) but yes, if you get parental consent, it's legal. they CAN and it has happened to some kids alreadyand even less orchiectomies but i do know of an unfortunate case or two, involving children

Orchiectomy. Hysterectomy. People know what most of those words mean, and how extremely serious and life-changing these operations are.So they hide it behind these cute little terms that have no connection at all to what’s actually being done to the person’s body. “Top surgery.” “Gender reassignment.” It’s all glossing over what is actually happening to the body.And that is very much by design.

@Childfree @Gelatinousrube @Lilitu @MandyJaneof course. and all that means to me is either those parents were probably gaslighted to hell by medical establishments.i mean my parents thought i was gonna kill myself and they had to pick going with this or losing me, mostly because my therapist told them i was a suicide risk. i didn't threaten my parents but.......it gets kids "treatment" faster, hormones faster, etc. and kids know this. i knew this and every child on tumblr did too. teenagers are quite manipulative. a lot of young people really ramp up the suicide talk, misery, and play this system to get their hormones.and instead of these emotionally manipulative kids getting an actual fucking psychiactric evaluation and being shown compassion, getting help... they are just enabled and encouraged. doctors and gender therapists LOOOOVEE THIS SHIT and want to keep it going for as long as they cangiving children cross sex hormones sure doesn't help those behaviours go away after it sets in, either. then you get adult man children and women who act something like eternal teenaged boys
