Kanamori has ended up being my favorite character in Keep Your Hands Off Eizouken, because she deftly illustrates the importance of having a competent, observant producer on a creative project who'll fight for the rights of her subordinateswhenever you're dealing with the cat-herding of keeping a bunch of creative people on task, it's important to have someone whose primary role is to keep everybody focused on the three key goals: 'on-time, on-budget, and without destroying our lives'

@hystericempress I might be totally off on this one, but I yearn for a world where people don't have to earn their basic needs, and where they can do stupid overblown thing that won't get but a nich audience. As art goes, it's rich, but also kind of the same in most of the cases. And I think the cause is capitalism. The creative people have to get money out of it, and are channeled for it, re-doing stuff that are "safe bet".I think it's sad ; we are missing out on so much original work...

@otyugh as someone who works in a creative field for a living: these would still be problems that existed even with infinite budgets. a major point of the series is that fundamentally, art is not 'for' the creator, it's for an audience, and that you can spend eternity on some gigantic overblown thing and end up A) exhausted, B) frustrated, and C) without anything you can show to anybody because there's no way to make something 'perfect' in translating it from your mind onto a page.

@otyugh like, yes, everyone deserves to have their basic needs met, but when you're trying to make something that actually Gets Out There, things that are extremely overwrought and ornate and 'perfect' just don't get FINISHED because if you can't accept imperfections or flaws, you'll just never be done making it.

@hystericempress I agree ; perfectionism is a problem (as anything put too far ; their close entourage should tell them first ! It isn't peculiar to art anyway, right ?).Having an audience, I tend to disagree. If you enjoy to do something, you are bound to have a few fans.I think most people don't need many many fans. They need a handful of regular praises from people that connect with - and money to live by. More is fine but... Not all that important. Right ? Correct me if I'm way off.

@hystericempress (anyway - I feel silly - I'm just objecting on "it'd be better if". And we are not there. Sorry I went off rambling on you like that >_<)
