@SwampWitch You statement is very true. With children, adults tend to admonish them, which makes them less apt to react appropriately. My mom never made us hug a relative if we didn't want to. I carried that on with my son, children know!@Teneseo @BlkLdyPatriot @QuillClemens

@JM Agreed.Mom had some old-fashioned ideas, which she mostly "outgrew" in her old age.She never made us hug anyone, but at home she really stifled what we could say or not.We weren't allowed to use the word "pregnant," for example.She thought I was too lenient with my kids as teens, bc I allowed them to speak their minds.They knew that as long as they were respectful, I'd listen.@Teneseo @BlkLdyPatriot @QuillClemens
