@JM @MMA My tastes never seem to change! I originally bought that fabric back in 2004 to cover the first set that I had to sell!! It was a miracle that I was able to find additional yardage in the exact fabric, because I just didn't have enough left over for this project. In 2004 it cost over $75/yd! I think I paid about $10/yd at Calico Corners because it was a remnant. When I found the additional yardage on ebay, it cost a little more than that, but not nearly what it could be!

@Dawnz @MMA I'm so grateful I had the opportunity to learn from a master seamstress!I think that HomeEc is something that everybody needs, because it forces you to plan your steps. You have to do things in the proper order. This kind of disciplined planning is not at all spontaneous, and it's very logical. Sewing and cooking ARE creative, but they're both built first on a foundation of established steps that can be taught. Once you have that foundation down, you can get creative.

@Dawnz @MMA Necessity is the mother of invention.I sure can't afford myself, so I had to learn how to make all the stuff that I want for my home!!But, you know, there's a sh*t ton of window treatments and home items on FBMP, and Craigslist!! You do not have to know how to sew, you can get awesome stuff there. I got some gorgeous, custom, silk pinch-pleat drapes for just pennies on the dollar off CL!

@MMA lol so true..With cooking I had an advantage. My mother was a wonderful cook.She had me cooking(supervising me) by the time I was 4. At 4 I was making key lime pie,cookies etc and pot roasts,etc by the time I was 5.I love cooking to this day.☺️

@JM @MMA you may be right about what works better, but I've seen how true vintage colors are often much brighter than what we think they should be, based on our experience with antiques, which have so often gotten darker with dirt over the years. Thus a perception that muted colors are vintage. My 2¢

@Jaime @MMA I hope to post some good stuff next week. Tomorrow I have a 240 round trip to pick up appliances and in my way back in going to drop in and help my best friend put up her curtains before I move away. This Saturday I'm going to see one of my closest friends to say goodbye and also see all the old spots because I know I'll never be back. So I'm taking a break from the chairs until Monday. But I'm going to finish this soon... I promise!!

@stephanieanne @MMA It really does grab the eye, doesn't it? It is very old stock. I was drawn to it when I was working at Calico Corners way back in 2003. It was $75 a yard back then and totally out of my reach financially.When Calico decided to close that location, remnants went to 50% off list price and then marked down to $5 or $10 apiece, regardless of yardage. I had a small stash from my house sale, so I bought $15k of fabric remnants for $600! This lisere was part of that purchase.

@stephanieanne @MMA This is for the cording under the edge of the cushions. The bias cut shows the colors better. Turning a plaid on the bias (so it looks diagonal) is a more sophisticated design technique. I love the effect.Cutting any fabric on the bias also gives it more flexibility and stretch. It won't pucker or crease when it curves around the furniture, as you tack it down with your staples. I cut all fabric on the bias, whether plaid, patterned or solid, when I make cording.

@stephanieanne @MMA Angel Drop! The Lord's got angels busy planting bargains for me to scoop up. I'm so blessed. This weekend I'm going to give one of my closest friends some of my blessings. I got a Kohler Memoirs toilet and a drop in sink for just $100 in my treasure hunts...$60 for the toilet and $40 for the sink. Look at the list prices! She's doing a bathroom renovation and I'm giving these to her to finish the project. She'll pop the sink into a vintage hutch... awesome!
