@TheWitchBitch Or force the armed services to start handling it better, and take the women seriously.. Hard truth is in the US, the military is one of the fastest ways to make something mainstream. I think it would reduce the attitude that women aren’t full citizens (see both 2008 and 2016 presidential campaigns). It may also provide impetus for alternative service – AmericaCorps volunteer terms, etc.

Our military is patriarchy personified with officers, tanks, and weapons. In order not to get raped going there and back, women drank less water - strategic dehydration - and died because of it because they were in Iraq and it's hot. there is no way i will ever say it's ok to force women to do military service while this is the conditions they do it in. Rape and sexual assault is rampant and there's very little recourse. And women die trying to avoid it.

They've never done it since, because it's a PR disaster. No-one has been opposing Iraq and Afghanistan in the same way bec no draft. They're not daft, they learned.
