@urusan circulus is Latin, ring is Germanic. So as a technical term, English should prefer the slightly simplified "circle". We don't phonetically spell words, we adapt their source language. In fact, the Latin would've been pronounced "keerkooloos".

@urusan You never mentioned that the points should be connected and sold not have unclosed ends, therefore any of the following are correct 😉:1. Points on two ands of a straight line -> • •2. Points at corners of any 2D ploygon that has equal edge lengths (triangle, square, pantagon, …, {n}gon when lim n -> inf )

@Mehrad When I wrote the intro for this poll, I was thinking "Oh gosh, what if I messed up the definition of a circle in some small technical way? I'm sure someone will call me out on it! That said, I don't want to bias the poll by saying 'circle'! Hmmm..."
