My education/time have been privileged in other ways, but itās so stark how thereās a silence in the conversation for a moment.They assume Iām part of the luxury belief class because I know what all these ridiculous words mean, and there is often a slight tension when they realize I donāt have the medals and ribbons to my name that they would have expected or wanted me to. Thereās a moment of confusion on their faces, where their desire to look down on me is conflicted by the fact that I am obviously prepared to converse with them on what they think of as their āintellectualā level.Thereās a deep irony in how much they bang on about the working class, and yet have such complete disgust for anyone who doesnāt have their lofty class markers.This is very much a bourgeoisie movement, which values normal people only insofar as they can recruit them as pawns.
