1930s Advertisement for Recipes for Aspic, with all sorts of things suspended inside. I assume that is gelatin without flavorUnusual. ๐ค Just because I felt like posting it

@timr not sure when the pot lucks will ever return. I hope sooner than later. The restaurants are really having a tough time around here. They have to close at 6 pm so the few steak houses can have cooks and servers. It's the far west.

@Donjanusgjrdrm They were very common back in the day. I remember my mother making rice pudding, apple pies and pound cake in vast quantities for the potucks with neighbors. And chicken salad too. My favorite

@Donjanusgjrdrm They would have them outdoors on summer evenings. If it was early, the kids went too. They played Frank Sinatra and Ella Fitzgerald albums. Very nice

@DTPrez I sure like mayonnaise. But not with that green gelatinous thing. And whatever is suspended in it. ๐ค

@timr I wouldn't either, but I do think it's extremely creative and probably hard to suspend those "things" in a timely manner before the gelatin gels. Hah!

@DTPrez Yes - no doubt it does take talent and time. And the courage of the guests when it comes to discovering and consuming the combination of mayonnaise and dyed gelatin - and the surprises suspended inside ๐ค

@timr Now I feel like listening to some King Crimson. 'Larks' Tongues in Aspic' is a classic album. John Wetton and Bill Bruford's first album with Robert Fripp and Co.
