It is unequivocally true that a stark line of demarcation between the sexes is ideal and conducive to domestic and social tranquility. I'll work with my wife in the garden or wherever else she needs me. She's absolutely brilliant with philosophy and instinctively gets politics on a level that most men won't these days. But she's not my bro-wife, and my bros aren't interested in her (or their wives) joining in our male pursuits.

A man, in his uncompromising masculinity has the power to make a woman a better woman – measured, free from hysterical impulses, wise, giving, and virtuous. Your woman should help you to be holy, or at least honorable. That's more important than any other consideration in love and marriage, in my view (and in the view of virtually all of our ancestors).

It's almost always an excuse for a photo-op though, and that inherently takes away its integrity. J.R.R.
