@Ismat If I understand correctly (complete non-techie), Gab is the software used to build this and other similar sites. Like most technologies, it's used by people and organisations of many different political leanings and levels of ethical acceptability.

@Raunchel @Ismat I think at least one aspect of it is that it demonstrates power and domination, i.e. 'you and I both know I have no idea what I'm talking about, but I'm demonstrating dominance by using our agreed social mores to force you to nod and smile and pretend to agree and pay attention, and not contradict or challenge me, while I pretend to be an expert.'

@Raunchel @Ismat I was mentioning on here the other day that I used to 'test' men the first time I dealt with them by contradicting them about some minor thing, or just saying 'I disagree', and seeing how much they'd lose their shit. It is still amazing to me every single time when I have conversations with the men I work with now who freely admit when they're wrong. The other day I was talking with my former boss (we've both changed jobs, and now he leads a programme that I'm involved with) about a decision I'd made; he disagreed with me until I explained the circumstances and then he just said, with no emotional charge at all, 'oh yeah, that makes sense, you were right and I was wrong', and then we just carried on the conversation.
