@Cumsocks @colonelj I was thinking about it, and ideally you want to delete the material as fast as possible but having some kind of proof is important when its in a community that isnt as tight nit or has large power.saving the picture and then editing it creates a situation where you have willingly created a copy on your own machine, which feds would LOVE to jump on as a reason to get you, and you end up having the situation where you have to tell your users in terms of deleting your local copy:'dude trust me'perhaps using a selection screenshot of the username and start of the image, depending on what it is, so you show a bit of the childs face/hands might work? you would then also want to blur the name of the user and do the other admin stuff related to them, that way there would be SOMETHING and you havent created a copy of the actual image itself on your machine.It does get very much into the weeds at that point.I suppose its a case of how much do you trust your admin when they say something is the case.

@Cumsocks @colonelj The actual post itself never federated to my instance, only snows post about it, A user could probably search the name from snows scrot and add it to my federation, which wouldnt be appreciated lol.I think the main issue is that pawoo is pretty lax with relation to most things, since people like doing their drawings on there, and since its popular its quite hard to effectively moderate, so a lot slips through the cracks.With snow, I think its moreso that he wants to put a name and face to the people he accuses so everyone knows who the bad guy is, its just that creating a list of pedos can be used nefariously given that there is no guarantee that they will be dealt with in due time, aside as well from his shotgun approach, where everything is cp, its a real double edged sword.I was going to write a long blogpost about how federation allows certain groups of 'people' to quietly interact and do their deeds without being seen, but FSE's P said that may turn out as a guide, so I thought about it and decided against itinteresting topic tho
