@ew @amnesiac its maybe (apparently?) not normal but i dont see how anyone could find our material circumstances not insanely depressing, the solution is to alienate yourself from them. iirc your suggestion to me to solve this without medication was to brainwash myself into not thinking about them.

@rats @amnesiac gee, maybe you know.. stop thinking about it all the time? you know where depression doesn't exist? in poor communities where people have to work hard all day just to provide for their families and don't have the leisure time to think deeply about life. depression and suicide are lower in poorer countries.

@ew >you probably just drank yourself away and now have to deal with it.have been dealing with that for a couple years now, actually. i sobered up in 2020, and those 6 months of sobriety were very difficult.. then i slowly slipped back into alcoholism again late that summer and let's just not go into the details of september 2020 thru april 2021.. my last birthday and the night before it were unbelievable demeaning and pathetic.

@ew @amnesiac yes its all distraction from the fact that life fucking sucks im glad we agree on that at least i think about this a lot but i find it a struggle to envision anything further out than 24 hours in the future with any seriousness. i'll look at the book
