       @hydramacready @DeanBradleySFF i really want an AR-style semi-auto shotgun with 20-30 round mags that isn’t hot garbage. they all seem to lock up because regular 12ga shells weren’t ever really designed to be run in a semi-auto weapon, so they have problems feeding from a box magazine and extracting when fired too quickly. i wish some big brain would just make modern brass or heavy polymer cartridges that have the power and versatility of shotgun shells without the legacy baggage

       @AngryHortlerNoises @hydramacready Well, shotguns are generally designed with rimmed shells in mind. You could, I guess, design a rimless semi-auto shotgun shell. You still have the problem of a 20 round mag of 1 oz 12 ga slugs (or even 20 ga) being freaking huge and a lot of weight. There were some Saiga drum mags of dubious reliability that are probably a better idea than a column mag with shells that size.

       @Tripp @AngryHortlerNoises @DeanBradleySFF @hydramacready tbf, the original submission was dead on arrival for many practical reason, including the fact that a single magazine contained over a pound of tungsten buckshot. The concept of a rimless brass shell though is solid and essentially a prerequisite for a reliable magazine fed shotgun.
