so apparently, at 100% humidity, 35°C is the highest temperature a human can take without having a heat stroke. beyond that point, sweat can't evaporate anymore, making it impossible for the body to cool itself down.

@kuba_ it's not actually very humid in a sauna. if you want that, you have to splash water on the heater.

@thor steam sauna, not finnish sauna. steam sauna has 100% humidity, temperature is bit lower tho'

@kuba_ i have no knowledge of those. but basically, temperatures above 35°C are tolerable at lower humidities. it's when you get a combination of temperatures close to or above body temperate *plus* no evaporative cooling that you run into trouble.

@kuba_ they call it the wet bulb temperature because of the evaporation part. it's the temperature you get if you cover your thermometer in a wet piece of cloth

@gemlog i've been in weather so humid that my sweat didn't evaporate. fortunately, it's never that humid when it's hot here in Norway, so you don't get a heat stroke
