Wow.. they now even have canceled a TV show where Peter R. De Vries (shot a few days ago) was guest speaker because of a very serious threat.. The studio has been evacuated Wtf is going on in the NL..

@stux i am not surprised. The Netherlands is known for gun involved crimes, etc. When I as in Utrecht in August 2019 a lawyer involved in drug related case was shot dead in front of his home. It did not happen in Utrecht, I saw it in the news.

@stux I worked as a broadcast engineer in late 1990s when the London and Birmingham TV studios of ITV (both now closed down) were still very active - they had a lot of politics discussion shows and crime documentary programmes, these studios had some very robust security procedures/ risk assessments and the Police on standby when those shows were being made, also they (and BBC even more so) were very wary about accepting parcels without correct labels..

@stux Had to do some reading up on the person mentioned. In the 30 years I worked in television, what happened to him was something that was always on our minds. We finally stopped doing deep investigative reporting to keep everyone safe.

@stux These drugs related assassinations have been going on for years and years in NL, and especially Amsterdam. It is remarkable that not so long ago that lawyer was shot, and now a journalist. Did you read that a day after the shooting of Peter de Vries some guy threatened people on a terrace in Amsterdam South East with a machine gun ? That was probably totally unrelated but in my opinion it shows that things are getting out of hand.

@ajz It seems they are getting worse and worse, like in the "past" criminal at least had some sort of code not to get kids or woman involved and such but these days it doesn't matter anymore as long as they get what they want :blobcatscared:

@stux Well, yes, good that you mentioned that. I forgot that I read that a few years ago a woman was assassinated for the eyes of her children near Amstelveen. This drugs scene is totally messed up. Even now that Mr. Holleeder has been locked away for many years.
