@EarlThePearls Hubby call them bushy tailed rats. I like them, the young ones are quite silly.

@JM When we had Nedgar he would leave presents on the front stoop for us. He took the feet and head first. Was like a lion and would bury for later the rest if I didn't take it away

@EarlThePearls We try to keep them from eating anything they catch, it just isn't good for them...worms and parasites. Since they present it to one of us, I keep them from it until the hubby takes it away. He typically walks it back to the far corner of the field by the woods, something else wild will consume it.

@EarlThePearls @JM I hand feed some of the squirrels around my place & just throw food at the other ones. Today I noticed one of the ones I hand feed looked to have a sprained or broken arm. Poor thing. 15 months ago I had a cat who was a very good hunter. There were a number of nights she would bring something she caught inside & the dog would get involved.I miss those critters & now have a pet food bill that mirrors what I paid for the dog & cat. They are quite entertaining, aren't they?

@Christyml7 They really are. I give them peanuts, bruised avocado pieces, strawberry tops, old bread, etc... @EarlThePearls

@JM @EarlThePearls They love those peanuts, especially in the shells! I juice a lot and save the apple cores/carrot pieces to feed the rabbits, & the squirrels like them too. I had been giving them pecans & walnuts, but that's getting expensive so they'll have to survive on peanuts & bird food going forward. One of those hand fed squirrels actually got too damn picky when being offered a choice...

@Christyml7 We purchase hulled peanuts from a company north of us in NC. The peanuts are cheap, the shipping is a killer. I feed them to the birds, more so during the colder months. We buy bulk.@EarlThePearls

@JM @EarlThePearls I'm probably paying too much for the peanuts I get at Sprouts, but I've been waiting for a fresh crop to buy in bulk, maybe 25#. Pricing online bulk wasn't that much cheaper than at Sprouts and there is a mold presence on all of them, but they are older. I mainly buy they for the blue jays. I used to hate blue jays, but my attitude towards them shifted after watching several of LesleytheBirdNerd videos on Youtube. She has them eating out of her hands! Impressive.
