@alexcrouch I'm not all that knowledgeable about cars, but I had a 1957 Chevy Impala that ran like a scalded rat. My dad took it away from me. I was running it too fast. In high school we used to tear up and down the flat gravel roads of the Bootheel. When the moon was full, the boys would go out at night and race the roads with their headlights off.

@alexcrouch I grew up in a small town. You could walk all over the place they and not worry about been bothered. People left their doors unlocked. Folks kept shotguns and rifles in their pickup trucks; nobody felt threatened. Every young man worth his salt had a pocket knife. Anybody got mad, they duked it out in the school yard. No one ever thought about shooting anyone. It was not an idyllic town nor an idyllic existence, but it was good.

@prchrskd I grew up in a small town too, and it was pretty much the same way. Fortunately it's still safe here because our police department is really good. But I think things changed a lot when the computers and smart phones took over. I'm a technology nerd but I remember when I was a kid that we spent our days riding our bikes around town and on dirt trails through the woods instead of sitting around so much.

@alexcrouch You're probably about my children's age. They too rode their bicycles everywhere and spent most of their time outside.
