       Have you ever heard people using "they" to describe people in the singular prior to the whole trans cultural shift? It honestly sounds normal to me, and I've always heard it but I'm learning there are some people who cannot associate "they" with anything other than a group.

       @augustus I used it sometimes to denote unknown sex of the person, or an hypothetical person that could be either.

       @augustus I've used it a long time before this because I'm opposed to all neopronouns, but I have to admit that you can utterly destroy a paragraph of normal English by consistently referring to someone as "they/them". I've seen obituaries like this and they're utterly confusing.

       @augustus I've always used it when I was too lazy to determine the sex of the person I was referring to (usually author of some piece in a lit class)
